It’s been a busy couple of weeks so I apologize for the lack of posts. Luckily I’ve still been able to get out on a few rides on my bike! Most recently we marked my favourite trail, Cabin Fever, for night riding. There were a few spots where it was easy to get off the trail that caught us if we weren’t paying attention so if we were having problems, we knew others definitely were! (Although right now we don’t know if anyone else is doing it as a night ride…) Luckily Dodge City Cycles donated some reflectors for us to use so we loaded up with reflectors and nails and set out. It was a cold and wet night! I was so happy I brought an extra fleece… So after I was bundled up like the Michelin man we set off on the trail. It was also a chance to check the drainage work from the weekend before since it had been raining hard all week. A few minutes into the trail, I was also happy I wore my hiking boots! While the water was staying off the trail for the most part, there was just too much of [...]

That pretty much sums up our ride tonight! We don’t know what it is, but Isabelle and I are absolutely addicted to night riding. We’re not sure if it just puts a new spin on old trails, or having the trails to ourselves? Either way, we think we may have our friend, JF, addicted as well! Originally we had gotten together a group of 6 to ride tonight but with the heavy rain tonight, it dwindled down to 3. Not that we were surprised… So off we went to begin the climb to the trail head. With it being JF’s second night ride, we decided to stick to Broncos again since he was familiar with the trail and we could get him more comfortable with his new setup (he recently bought a new bike, a 2009 Specialized Pitch Pro, and a new headlight) and riding in wet, mucky conditions. The best part is I finally got to really put my new tires to the test. I put Maxxis Ardents on my bike but this was the first time I used them in wet conditions, which is the reason I replaced the tires on my bike. I am impressed! And very [...]
